Tracking tropical triplets in the Atlantic

It's possible we could be tracking three named storms in the Atlantic this weekend.

In addition to Hurricane Florence, which you can read our analysis on here, two other areas have our attention in the Atlantic.

Both tropical waves are currently on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, and both could organize into the next named storms of the season (Helene and Isaac).
At 11 a.m. Friday, The National Hurricane Center issued its first advisory for Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight, which will soon become one of either Helene or Isaac.

It's unclear which name this storm will recieve. There's another tropical wave ahead of P.T.C. Eight, and the first one to form will get the next name on the list, Helene, followed by Isaac.

This leading tropical wave, dubbed Invest 92L, is one we've been tracking for a few days, and the NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team still gives the disturbance a 90% chance to develop in the coming days.

These disturbances are over three thousand miles away from the U.S. mainland, and it's way too early to know if it will have an impact on the United States.

Invest 92L will likely march west over the next five days, and forecast models still disagree where the disturbance will go beyond that point. A few models eventually turn the storm north while several others keep it on more of a westerly track approaching the Lesser Antilles by late next week. It'll be one to watch over the next several days, especially if it's able to stay south.

The news is a little better for Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight. The forecast for this soon-to-be storm heads west and northwest over the next five days, and there's a good chance the storm will turn north in the open Atlantic next week. However, it's still way too early to know with much certainty where it will ultimately end up. Count on the NBC 2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team to let you know first when changes happen to the forecast for any of these tropical systems.
