Marching band forced to wait out hours-long lightning delay on hot bus

Parents of students in the Immokalee High School marching band are angry, saying Naples High School left their kids waiting in hot busses for hours on Friday.

It happened when the Friday night football game at Naples High School was put on a lightning delay.

Parents said instead of letting the marching band inside the school to wait it out, they had to stay on their busses in 80-degree heat and humidity.

"I want to know why Naples is the only school in the country that cannot show and return that common courtesy," said Frank Rincon, a parent of a band member.

The Collier County School District and school board members haven't responded for a request for comment.

A Collier County School Board member has seen angry social media posts, however, and responded. He said the superintendent is aware and are on top of the issue.
