PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -

Charlotte County Deputies are on the search for a person accused of stealing tires from Harbor Nissan in Port Charlotte.

Staff at the car dealership said a witness saw a person loading tires into the back of a U-Haul truck.

Investigators are now looking to the public for answers.

Deputies said the person got away with 14 tires.

The General Manager at Harbor Nissan, Cameron Byrd, explained the stolen tires were spare tires to brand new vans in a lot across the street.

"Looking under the vans, [I saw], where they are stored, that a bunch of them were missing," Byrd explained.

Byrd said the vans were parked across the street in a lot.

“Being back there, the visual aspect is hard to see that area of the lot," Byrd added.

Aside from stealing the tires, the suspect also left behind $11,000 in damages.

“It’s not just a tire. It’s everything else that holds it up. It was cut, and unfortunately they can’t be used," Byrd stated.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
