FORT MYERS, Fla. -

A man who had been on the run for several months for reckless driving is now behind bars.

Around 9:45 p.m. on June 2, deputies were called to the 300 block of Royal Palm Park Road in Fort Myers for a report that a vehicle had been driving erratically in the area.

Jose Mejia, 26, drove his car at several people and a deputy with his car. The deputy fired his gun at Mejia's car to stop him, but Mejia drove away from the scene.

Deputies arrested Mejia Tuesday and charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer as well as fleeing and eluding.
