One man was killed and another was severely injured after a crash in Lee County on Thursday evening.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 6:30 p.m. when Joshua Picard, 28, was driving on Palm Beach Boulevard. His car ran off the road near Joel Boulevard before overturning, killing his passenger and sending him to the hospital, according to law enforcement.

His passenger, Jesse Arroyave, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash. Troopers said he nor Picard were wearing a seatbelt.

The Florida Highway Patrol did not indicate why it believes Picard's car went off the road but did say alcohol was not a factor.

To learn more about what happened, investigators are seeking the public's help.

If you have any information about this crash or saw what happened, you're urged to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
